About Wembley Stadium

Wembley Stadium is a football stadium in Wembley, London. It opened in 2007 on the site of the original Wembley Stadium, which was demolished from 2002 to 2003. The stadium hosts major football matches including home matches of the England national football team, and the FA Cup Final.

With 90,000 seats, it is the largest stadium in the UK and the second-largest stadium in Europe. The stadium is crowned by the 134-metre-high Wembley Arch which serves aesthetically as a landmark across London and structurally to support over 75% of the entire roof load. It is the longest single-span roof structure in the world.

Designed by Populous and Foster + Partners, the stadium is a bowl design with three tiers. It hosted the 2011 and 2013 UEFA Champions League Finals and the Euro 2020 Final. Unlike the old "Twin Towers," the Arch has become the defining symbol of the new "Home of Football," visible for miles around the capital.

🛰️ Satellite Identification Tips

At zoom 16, Wembley Stadium is immediately identifiable by its enormous signature arch — a 315-metre steel structure that soars 133 metres above the pitch. From satellite, the arch casts a distinctive long shadow across and beyond the stadium. The stadium sits in the Wembley area of northwest London, with the large Wembley Arena (indoor venue) and extensive car parks visible to the north. The Olympic Way (pedestrian approach from Wembley Park station) is a wide, straight boulevard leading south to the stadium entrance. The circular bowl shape and the distinctive lattice arch make Wembley one of the most recognisable stadiums on Earth from any angle.
