About Miami

The Miami International Autodrome is a purpose-built temporary circuit around the Hard Rock Stadium and its private facilities in the Miami suburb of Miami Gardens, Florida. The track is 3.363 mi (5.412 km) long and features 19 corners with an anticipated average speed of around 139 mph (223 km/h).

Designed to provide a mix of street-circuit vibes with permanent track safety standards, it features three straights and three DRS zones to encourage overtaking. The circuit includes elevation changes, most notably the uphill approach to the chicane at Turn 14-15 which passes under the Florida's Turnpike overpasses.

The event is known for its glamorous atmosphere, attracting celebrities and high-profile guests. The track surface and layout have been refined since its debut to improve grip and racing quality. The "marina" section, with real yachts on a fake vinyl water surface, became a viral sensation, symbolizing the spectacle of the event.

The Miami International Autodrome is jointly operated by Hard Rock Stadium's ownership—Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross's RSE Ventures—and Formula One Management under a 10-year hosting agreement signed in 2021. Uniquely among F1 venues, the racing surface does not use any existing public roads: the entire 5.412-kilometre layout runs on private property owned by the Dolphins organisation across parking lots, service roads and a specially graded infield loop that would otherwise sit vacant 358 days a year. The estimated 40-million-dollar cost of laying and lifting the paddock and grandstand infrastructure annually is met by ticket revenue alone; the venue's revenue-share model with Formula One Management does not include any state or municipal subsidy, unlike many US sporting events. Miami-Dade County did contribute 6 million dollars to a local traffic-management fund covering the surrounding surface streets.

🛰️ Satellite Identification Tips

At zoom 15, the Miami International Autodrome is centred around the large oval Hard Rock Stadium, with the circuit wrapping around its parking lots and access roads. Look for the distinctive blue rectangle of the artificial "marina" nearby, the Florida's Turnpike highway overpasses crossing the circuit, and the completely flat South Florida terrain. Unlike most F1 venues, the circuit is surrounded by typical American suburban housing developments with backyard pools.

Beyond the stadium and turnpike, additional features refine identification. The Miami Gardens district's Vista Verde public library rises three storeys as a modest but distinctive concrete cuboid immediately east of the paddock. The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair permanent grounds—home each March to a massive travelling carnival—sit as a large asphalt clearing 2 kilometres south, punctuated by permanent metal-framed livestock barns. The Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex swimming pool complex glimmers as a rectangular blue basin surrounded by shade sails. Immediately west, the Palmetto Expressway's eight-lane divided ribbon curves north toward Broward County, and the extensive Golden Glades interchange nearby forms one of Florida's most complex knots of ramps. Sun Life Boulevard passes east of the circuit as a discreet suburban artery.
